PURPOSE

Choosing the right materials that represented the building's form and function was derived from these 3 factors which would ultimately influence all spaces within.

Material 1: Concrete
Material 2: Glazing
BRUNECK CLIMBING CENTRE

The Bruneck Climbing Centre's use of materiality became a important precedence to the development of my building. It's use of concrete and glazing allows bother short and long views into and out of the climbing centre to create a dynamic and transparent user experience.

KNOLL RIDGE CAFE
[Harris Butt Architecture 2012]

The Knoll Ridge Cafe excellently responds to its context through its use of materiality and structure. It's sharp and striking edges reflect the mountain peaks that surround it whilst it's angled glazing creates a direct relationship between interior and exterior spaces

STRETFORD CYCLE CENTRE

Taking inspiration from the precedence above, Stretford Cycle Centre's facade consists of an angle curtain wall that wraps around the cafe space whilst the climbing centre's 

The combination of materials reflects the various activities that existing within the building with the concrete representing the rocky climbing walls whilst the curtain wall takes inspiration from a bike frame.
